Teaser Tuesdays (August 18, 2009)

Photobucket

Teaser Tuesdays
is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* Grab your current read

* Open to a random page

* Share two “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
My Teaser:
She died between Dô and him she called her child, in her big bedroom on the first floor, where during heavy frosts she used to put the sheep to sleep, five or six sheep all around her bed, for several winters, her last.
From The Lover by Marguerite Duras, pg. 30

  3. It's almost like sheep karma that she would die there. Great teaser.

  6. Whew! I'm glad I don't have five or six sheep hanging around my bedroom.

  7. "When she said that, Peter could hear a note in her voice that was like a lullaby. He could vividly remember sitting on Josie's driveway in the heat of July, trying to make a fire with sawdust, sunlight, and his glasses. He could hear her yelling over her shoulder as they ran home from school, daring Peter to catch up. He saw a faint flush paint her face and realized that the Josie who used to be his friend was still there, trapped inside several cocoons, like one of those Russian nesting dolls that hides another and another, until you read the one that fits snug in the palm of your hand."

    NINETEEN MINUTES - Jodi Picoult

    (I just got this one and haven't cracked it yet, but hear it's a good one.)
